Karrie Young (Muscogee Creek Nation)

Karrie Young was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and is a proud member of the Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma. A Native flute player, mother, grandmother, and great-great auntie, Karrie carries her cultural knowledge and life experience with humility and generosity. Her work is rooted in family, community, and the responsibility of passing teachings forward to future generations.

Deeply connected to the land, Karrie’s music is an extension of her relationship with forests, rivers, and ancestral memory. Through the voice of the Native flute, she creates soundscapes that invite reflection, healing, and presence. Her melodies are inspired by the natural world and Indigenous ways of listening—honoring the land as a living relative rather than a backdrop. Each note carries intention, offering space for grounding, remembrance, and connection.

Karrie is an active part of the local Indigenous community and participates in the Indigenous Marketplace, where she shares her music, teachings, and presence in a way that strengthens cultural continuity and community bonds. As a certified Forest Therapy Guide, she blends traditional knowledge with guided experiences that encourage people to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with the natural world. Whether through music, gathering, or time spent among the trees, Karrie’s work reflects a lifelong relationship with the land and a commitment to nurturing balance, healing, and belonging.
